Visit the dentist with less anxiety

If you feel nervous or anxious about visiting the dentist (or avoid it outright), sedation dentistry might be an option for you. People of all ages and walks of life suffer from dental phobia. There are several reasons why someone might develop dental anxiety: a bad experience in the past, apprehension about treatment, shame, or expecting stress or pain, for example. Regardless of the causes of dental anxiety, our friendly team at Every Smile is committed to helping you feel comfortable when visiting our office. Here you can receive the dental care you need for healthy and beautiful smiles, in a safe and peaceful environment.

If you experience dental anxiety or phobia, please tell us, and we will approach your care with sensitivity and caution. In addition to our standard use of anesthetics, we also provide sedation dentistry, which uses sedative medications and techniques to ensure that your dental experience is relaxing and positive.

In the past, there was little that could be done to ease discomfort during dental visits. Patients who sought treatment knew that dental procedures may be uncomfortable, but soldiered on anyway. Today we are very lucky to have anesthetics and sedatives that block tooth sensation and help patients stay calm, and free from fear or discomfort. The two forms of sedation we offer are oral sedation and IV sedation.

What are my sedation options?

Every Smile Dental Care offers multiple options to help you feel relaxed during your dental visits.

Oral Sedation

With this option, patients are prescribed a pill to take about one hour before the appointment. When it’s time to start the visit, you are sure to feel more at ease. Oral sedation is a form of conscious sedation, so patients stay awake and are aware of their environment. However, they often feel so calm and relaxed that they fall asleep during treatment.

IV Sedation Dentistry

Every Smile is happy to offer IV sedation to help our patients relax during dental procedures.  Even for patients without dental anxiety, some dentistry treatments are difficult and may be uncomfortable without medication. For those cases we are glad our IV sedation qualifications allow us to administer some of the most effective sedatives, alleviating the possibility of stress or discomfort.

How does IV Sedation work?

IV Sedation involves an anti-anxiety drug being administered directly into the blood (intravenously), throughout the dental treatment. It is sometimes referred to as “sleep dentistry,” but technically the patient is awake the entire time. Soon after the IV is administered, the patient feels calm and relaxed, while still being awake to follow directions from the dentist.

What patients saying about IV Sedation

During this time, our Chandler dental team carefully monitors the patient’s safety during sedation. The patient is usually left with little-to-no recollection of the entire procedure. Many remark feeling as if time has flown by and they are surprised when they are told the procedure is over.

Comfortable & Safe

Our goal is to make sure that you always feel relaxed during your dental visits. If you choose a sedation option, our trained staff will monitor your safety and complete your dental treatment quickly and efficiently, so you can get back to enjoying your life.
